Ledwall: technical features and all you need to know
A company’s presence at industry trade show events is a huge opportunity to finalize new contracts, present its services and/or products to possible new buyers, and be able to meet and retain customers with whom it has already made contact.
It is obvious, then, that the key thing is to be recognizable, to differentiate yourself from others, and to communicate your company values in a clear and impactful way. Everything starts from the company and its name, which remains the focal point, but which must be accompanied by an ad hoc structural project.
As those who have already faced the bureaucratic process that any exhibition organization puts before us know, there are many hidden costs to be dealt with, to which must obviously be added the expense to be allocated to the actual construction of the stand
For those interested, we have already addressed this topic in our article “Fruit Logistica 2026: Exhibit Space Pricing.”
That is why the choice that is often made is to go for simplification to reduce the structure to the bone thinking that the economic incidence of additional impactful elements is significant.
What is our advice instead, based on years of experience in these kinds of dynamics, is not to be intimidated by the idea that something impactful is necessarily very expensive.
It is obvious beautiful things have their cost, as in any field, and we care about making beautiful things but beauty and communicative impact are often very different things.
One example that fits the bill is the use of ledwall screens.
We are now surrounded by these kinds of media that are slowly becoming part of common use and are going to replace everything that up to this point has been paper-based and therefore static.
The ability to have a dynamic medium that allows us to play moving video material is a huge opportunity, and increasingly it is also an interesting and intelligent solution for temporary exhibition spaces such as trade show booths.
Let us think of a 6sqm area with static graphics and the message we want to convey, we could hardly insert more than a few elements without creating confusion.
Let us now think of the same area occupied by a video medium, in this case the amount of messages we can convey is enormously more numerous, modern and effective.
The world of ledwall technology is very wide and there are now endless solutions, let’s try to give some more specifics below.
Indoor
(indoor use)
Designed for closed environments
(offices, showrooms, event rooms).
Outdoor
(outdoor use)
Resistant to sun, rain, dust and vibration; with maintenance costs about 20% higher than indoor.
Transparent or Mesh Screens
Ideal for windows or facades: films (transparent, thin), mesh/curtain
(wind-resistant) or front-emitting.
MicroLED (next-gen)
Emerging technology with microscopic pixels (microLEDs), excellent energy efficiency and long service life.
Ledwall features for trade show booths
As mentioned, the solutions are really many and each category presents different products both in type (for example, a solution that can be curved or not) and format.
In our case, the use of ledwalls for indoor use that have a lower cost (about 20-40%) and lower power consumption is the most suitable solution.
Each ledwall consists of different led tiles that are categorized according to 10 main characteristics:
Pixel Pitch
Indicates the distance in millimeters between two adjacent LEDs .
The lower the number, the higher the resolution.
Physical dimensions
They vary by manufacturer and series, but the most common formats are:
– 500×500mm
– 640×480mm
– 960×960mm (mainly outdoor)
They allow modular surfaces, like LEGO tiles, to be assembled.
Resolution per module
It depends on the pixel pitch and the size of the tile.
Structure and materials
Built in:
– Die-cast aluminum (stronger, for professional use)
– ABS plastic (cheaper, for light installations)
They are often magnetic or with quick-fit systems (for quick assembly/disassembly).
Brightness
The higher the brightness, the more visible the image is in sunlight.
Viewing angle
The greater the angle, the more visible it is even from side positions.
Protection from weathering
Update frequency
High frequency = smooth images, great for video and TV shooting (no
flickering).
Energy consumption
It varies according to pixel pitch and brightness.
Maintenance: front or back
.
– Front service: LEDs are disassembled from the front (useful for installations at
wall)
– Rear service: access from behind (requires rear space).
Easy turnkey ledwall rental
Net of all these pointers, it is important to understand that in the case of an exhibition booth, the solution is really simpler than one might think.
What we provide is a rental service that allows the customer to write off the purchase costs in a major way without requiring any kind of insurance or deductible to cover any damages.
Our ledwalls are made up of tiles in a 500×500 mm format with a 2.5 pixel pitch, which allows for excellent rendering even at a close distance. Installation and dismantling is done only by qualified personnel who remain present during the entire duration of the event to solve any technical problems or replacement of damaged tiles.
Accompanying the led stand is installed inside a technical room the mixing equipment to be able to play video in a loop or according to the desired order.
In addition, the customer is always offered the possibility of being able to create a package that includes installation but also realization of visual material to be played, such as logo animations or ad hoc vector graphics.
